Construction of Tiger Plaza began in May 2002 and was dedication on October 25, 2002. Contributor plaques listing more than 2,200 proud alumni and friends of the University, a cascading water feature, and the 6 x 11 foot bronze tiger statue by acclaimed wildlife sculptor Forest Hart highlight Tiger Plaza.
Acclaimed wildlife sculptor Forest Hart was selected as the sculptor of the plaza's tiger statue after a four-month long national search. The Tiger statue was cast at a foundry in Colorado and trucked to Columbia.
